Sophie's Official Patronages - Children & Young People

In a effort to kept things organized this section features only Countess Sofia's Children & Young People related patronages.  You can find links to all of her patronages here

Wessex Youth Trust
Co-Founder (1999)

The Wessex Youth Trust was set up in 1999 shortly before Edward and Sophie's wedding. The Trust gives grants to charitable organizations that help, support and advance children and young people.

Formerly called The Earl and Countess of Wessex Charitable Trust.

President (2003)

Girlguiding is a UK Charity for girls and young women in the UK. The charity is similar to  youth scouting organizations. The charity encourages girls and young women in personal and social development. Their areas of focus are 
  • Health, 
  • Global Awareness,
  • Cultural diversity,
  • Life skills, 
  • Social Skills and 
  • Discovery.
Princess Margaret was previously President. At the time it was called the Guide Association.

Patron (April 2005)

ChildLine is a free, private and confidential help line for children, up to 18 years old in the UK. The line is run by the NSPCC (which Sophie is president of, see below). Their trained counsellor offer support 24 hours a day, on any issue.

The charity also runs message boards, and online chats.

National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC )
President (2012)

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children is a UK charity that works to protect children and young people mainly from abuse. The charity provides support and information for parents, children, schools, communities, etc.

They also campaign for laws relating to child abuse, and fund research.

The Queen is Royal Patron. The Queen was previously President (1944 -?). Queen Victoria was the charities first Royal Patron (1895-?).
