The Monarch will review the troops in the courtyard of the Royal Palace. Then, in the Throne Room of the palace, the King will give a speech and present some awards to military officers.
In addition to the event in Madrid, the day is also celebrated at other military headquarters throughout the country.
History
The event dates back to the reign of King Carlos III. On January 6th, 1782, the town of Mahón was recaptured from the British. To celebrate, the king order his military commanders to gather the troops to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany, which also happens on that day.
