Monaco's City Hall hosts an annual "Monegasque picnic" (also called "U Cavagnëtu") at Princess Antoinette Park in late August/early September. The picnic is only for citizens of Monaco and their spouses. The event marks the end of the summer season and has been held since 1931. The event was created by Charles Bellando de Castro, the then President of the National Committee for Monegasque Tradition.
The park is named after Princess Antoinette, Baroness of Massy, who was the sister of Prince Rainier III. In addition to Prince Albert's immediate family , the picnic is attended by members of the De Massy family.
