Each year, the Denmark Monarch holds 3 New Years Receptions (Nytårskur) for various officials. The receptions usually take place over 2 days during the 1st week of the year.
(This event should not be confused with the New Years Gala Banquet on January 1st. You can find out more about that here.)
2025 Dates: Jan 6th & 7th
Day A
- Reception 1 at Christian VII's Palace (9:30 AM)
- Attending
- Supreme Court judges, the Royal Life Guards and the Officer Corps of the Guard Hussar Regiment.
- Reception 2 at Christiansborg Slot (11AM)
- Attending:
- Members of the Diplomatic Corp
- Carriage ride from Christian IX’s Palace at Amalienborg to Christiansborg Slot, escorted by Guard Hussar Regiment
- Reception 3 at Christiansborg Slot
- Attending
- Officers from the Armed Forces and the National Emergency Management Agency
- Representatives of major national organizations and royal patronages.

2016 - Prince Henrik retired from official duties at the beginning of the year.
Court Dress
Queen Margrethe wears the same "Court Dress" outfit each year for the New Years Receptions. The current "Court Dress" was presented to Queen Margrethe in 2023 as a Jubilee gift from the Craftsman's Association.
