September Q&A (2018)

As always, post your Royal Questions & I will get to them as soon as possible.

Question 1: I know it's early but I have been thinking about Christmas cards. When you write the Yorks do you send two separate cards, one to the Duke and his daughters, and one to Sarah, Duchess of York? How do you address the letters for the address on the envelope? Something like "The Duke of York and family"? What is the address for Sarah vs. the rest of the family?

Answer: For Christmas and such, I usually just mention one person (or a couple) on my envelope and then say in my letter that I am sending my Christmas wishes to "you and your family."

For the Yorks, I usually send one letter to Andrew and one to Sarah, and I say in my letter "you and your family." That way you kind of sidestep the whole divorced, yet close awkwardness. It's not specifically referring to their ex, but also not excluding them either.

The Address for Prince Andrew's office is:

Buckingham Palace
London SW1A 1AA
UNITED KINGDOM

Mail for Duchess Sarah should be addressed to Duke of York's Office at Buckingham Palace. They will then forward the mail on to Sarah.

You can address Andrew on your envelope as,
Duke of York
HRH Duke of York
Prince Andrew
etc.

& Sarah as,
Duchess Sarah
Sarah, Duchess of York
Sarah Fergason
etc.

Question 2: Did you sent a letter to congratulate Harry and Meghan in the occasion of their wedding?

Answer: Yes, but I haven't gotten a reply yet.

Question 3: When you sent a letter to Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall?

Answer: I'm a little confused by your question... If you asking about when I sent my letter to Camilla for her birthday, I wrote in early July.

If you are asking about what occasions I usually write to Camilla, I usually write for her birthday and to her and Charles for Christmas.

Question 4: Do you write to everyone on your calendar? I do not think you're the kind of person who stops sending letters because you don't receive a reply. But for example, do you write for the birthday of Princess Martha Louise of Norway? I'd like to know who you write for.

Answer: I don't write to everyone on our calendar. I'm way too lazy and busy to send out that many letters. I write to the royals I particularly like and care about. Some of whom I know won't respond. And there are plenty of royals with birthdays each month, who I know will respond and who may have very lovely replies, but I just don't care enough about them to write for their birthday.

I don't just write because I can, but because I honestly want to wish them a happy birthday. I think one's letter should have some meaning.

I don't write for Princess Martha Louise's birthday. I like her, but she's not a working royal and she's not one of my favourites. I think the only time I've written to her was to say how sorry I was to hear about her divorce a few years ago.

Question 5: What do you think about asking for photos? Did you ever ask?

Answer: I never ask for a photo. I don't think it's rude rude, but it's not why I write. I write for some occasion to send the royal birthday wishes or congratulations, etc. because I honestly mean it, not because I want a photo or a nice reply.

I do know there are some royals who will send a photo if you ask but don't if you don't ask. And there is a little part of me that is jealous to see other people get a photo. But that's not why I write. I don't ever ask for anything in my letters.

Question 6: Have you got an address HRH Prince Michael of Kent?

Answer: All of the Royal address have been moved to our new site, Gert's Royal Replies.

The Address for Prince Michael of Kent is:

Kensington Palace
London W8 4PU
UNITED KINGDOM

Question 7: I want to send a congratulation card for Princess Eugenie's wedding. Where I must to write, address.

Answer: Letters to Princess Eugenie (Beatrice & Sarah) should be sent to Prince Andrew's office. Andrew's office handles Beatrice & Eugneie's mail, and forwards Sarah's on to her.

Buckingham Palace
London SW1A 1AA
UNITED KINGDOM

Question 8: I have two questions: What do these offices look like? & What is Sarah Ferguson’s mailing address?

Answer: If you want to write to Sarah, you should address your letter to Prince Andrew's office at Buckingham Palace. They will forward the mail onto Sarah.

The address for Buckingham Palace is:

Buckingham Palace
London SW1A 1AA
UNITED KINGDOM

As for what these offices look like, we don't really know for sure. We don't really get many behind the scene looks at Royals offices. But we have gotten a few glimpses over the years.

  2. Thanks for mentioning that you haven't received a reply from Meghan and Harry's wedding, yet. I wrote them in May, which was my first royal correspondence ever, so I am really hoping to receive a reply! Hopefully it will not take longer than 6 months to get out the replies.
