                    Nobel Prize Laureates (2020)

                    The 2020 Nobel Laureates were announced October 5th - 12th. The award ceremonies will take place on December 10th.

                    Physiology or Medicine 
                    Awarded to Harvey J. Alter of USA (1/3), Michael Houghton of UK (1/3) & Charles M. Rice of USA (1/3) for "the discovery of Hepatitis C virus."
                    The Prize is awarded by the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institute.

                    Physics
                    Awarded to Roger Penrose of UK (1/2) for "the discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity." And awarded to Reinhard Genzel of Germany (1/4) and Andrea Ghez of USA (1/4) "for the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the centre of our galaxy."
                    The Prize is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

                    Chemistry
                    Awarded to Emmanuelle Charpentier of France (1/2) & Jennifer A. Doudna of USA (1/2) “for the development of a method for genome editing.”
                    The Prize is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

                    Literature 
                    Awarded to Louise Glück of USA  (1/1) for "for her unmistakable poetic voice that with austere beauty makes individual existence universal."
                    The Prize is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

                    Peace 
                    Awarded to World Food Programme (1/1) for "its efforts to combat hunger, for its contribution to bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict."
                    The Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

                    Economic Sciences
                    Awarded to Paul R. Milgrom of USA (1/2) & Robert B. Wilson of USA (1/2) for "improvements to auction theory and inventions of new auction formats."
                    The Prize is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
